The Ministry of National Economy and IMF are working together on improving macroeconomic forecasting tools


IMF experts positively assessed the tools used in MNE RK’s work.


The IMF mission held consultations with the Departments of Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting, Budget, Tax and Customs Policy of the MNE RK.

During the event, the Ministry demonstrated the macroeconomic forecasting approaches used. IMF experts positively assessed the tools used in MNE RK’s work.

In turn, the IMF mission presented the Comprehensive Adaptive Expectations Model, which is widely used by international financial institutions, central banks and governments of leading countries as a key tool in the development of economic policies and stabilisation programmes.

Following the review mission, the parties identified further directions for the development of the Ministry’s macroeconomic forecasting capacity.
